HISTORY
With a history dating back to the 19th century in the distant lands of Japan, Vector Europe has a decades-long tradition of supplying plastic packaging solutions for the food industry. Check our evolution and growth through the years.
1896
Foundation of Gunze Silk Manufacturing Co., Ltd in Kyoto (Japan) by Tsurukichi Hatano, a company producing silk apparel.
1952
Nylon full-fashion stocking production launched at Ayabe Factory and Tsukaguchi Factory.
1992
Gunze Plastics & Engineering NV established in Hasselt (Belgium) as a subsidiary of Gunze Ltd in Japan and starts producing plastic casings. It also establishes a corporation in the US for plastic film production and marketing.
1992
Gunze’s Australian partner for sales and marketing “Vector” opens a sales office in Hasselt.
2003
Gunze in Belgium achieves ISO 9001 and, as the first company on the European mainland, BRC-IOP, the food packaging hygiene standard.
2012
Gunze sells the production plant to Vector, its sole customer.
2016
Viscofan acquires 100% of the Vector Group and starts investing heavily in the plant, updating the machinery and the supporting IT systems which has led to a complete integration of the company within the Viscofan Group.
2018
Viscofan Vector Belgium achieves a double certification: ISO 14001 in Environmental Management and ISO 45001 in Occupational Health and Safety
