Additional information in connection with the Recent Allegations made by Hunterbrook
At Viscofan, we take pride in our safety record, environmental compliance, and deep-rooted commitment to the Danville community. We were recently the target of an inaccurate and misleading online attack by Hunterbrook—a firm of activist investors known for short-selling companies, operating an affiliated law firm, and spreading reckless misinformation for their own financial gain.
We categorically reject the serious and unfounded accusations made against our Danville operations. These claims are based on a biased narrative, misinterpretations of public documents, and anonymous testimonies that contradict the reality of our operations and the Viscofan Group’s long-standing commitment to regulatory compliance and ethical business practices.
Safety First:
Viscofan in Danville is ISO 45001 certified, the highest international standard for occupational health and safety management. Our Danville plant has a strong safety record, with only two minor incidents and a record-low severity index of 0.06, well below industry averages. We continue to work toward our goal of zero incidents, supported by robust corporate policies and locally implemented safety systems.
Environmental Responsibility:
Viscofan collaborates closely with state and federal environmental authorities. We have implemented rigorous procedures to ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations and to responsibly manage emissions and outputs from our manufacturing processes. Our air emissions consistently remain within permitted environmental limits. Over the past five years, we have invested more than €65 million in the Danville facility, including substantial upgrades in environmental controls and safety systems. Over the past decade, our Danville facility has not been sanctioned nor required to pay any environmental fines.
Community Commitment:
When other companies left Danville, Viscofan expanded its presence. Today, we proudly employ 260 people at our Danville facility, making us one of the largest employers in Vermillion County. Our continued investment reflects our dedication to the region and its people.
Labor Relations:
Viscofan fully respects the rights of employees under the National Labor Relations Act. Our workforce has the freedom to organize, join unions, or refrain from such activities. We have always operated within the bounds of labor law, without infringing upon employees’ rights to choose their preferred form of representation.
We will not allow our company to be subjected to falsehoods and blatant mischaracterizations. Viscofan US Inc. remains committed to transparency, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and the health and safety of our employees and community. We will continue to move forward and vigorously defend our reputation against baseless attacks.
